AMD HSF that comes with retail AthlonII X4 or Phenom II processors question.

Hi,
How is the fan attached to the retail HSF that comes with the AthlonII or PhenomII processors? I'd like to know if the fan could be easily replaced in the event of failure without having to remove the heatsink itself from the mobo?

Thanks,
BGC

The fan on the stock Phenom II X4 heatsink is easily removed by unscrewing 4 screws. I have one right in front of me and have taken it off before. As for quality, it's good enough for regular use and mild OC.

As mentioned by Jd007 there are 4 screws and the fan comes right off, But I have seen a few that still use the plastic square below the fan that uses 4 plastic teeth that can be easly pryed and the fan comes right off.
