AMD Heatsink

I am in the process of picking out my hardware parts for my first build. You have probably seen me list this 100 times, but being so new, I keep changing things because I am unsure of my selections. Forgive me if my post is redundant. The main question that I could use some advice on is the stock AMD X2 4400+ heatsink and fan. Is the stock heatsink and fan suitable for day in and day out useage, or do I need to look for an upgrade? If an upgrade is recommended, could someone suggest new hardware? Since this is my first build, I won't be doing any overclocking right off the bat. But I'm sure at some point, yes, I will overclock. Any advice is appreciated. I'll list my hardware below:

Can't settle on a Case(Advice?)
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
AMD X2 4400+
Corsair XMS 2GB (2x 1GB) PC3200C2PRO
2x eVGA Geforce 7900GT 256MB @500MGz
WD 10k 150GB Raptor
Mitsumi FDD/7-in-1 card reader
Lite-On Burner with Lightscribe
Siverstone ST60F 600w

I wouldn't bother untill you decide to o/c. Heck stock cooling might allow you to o/c quite a bit. I am running my 3000+ @ 2.4ghz 1.45v and temps are perfectly fine on stock cooler.

Also you loose your warranty if you use anything other than the stock cooler.

The stock cooler on the dual core AMD chips (except for the 3800) is an extremely good cooler, and outperforms several good aftermarket heatsinks such as the xp-90.

Thank you to all. You have saved me a lot of time and effort into looking at new heatsinks, which I have been dreading. Depending what site you visit, they all have their own personal preference towards HSF. Believe me, it is really confusing to a noob like myself.

Also, thank you Sniper for that info. I didn't know changing the HSF voids the warranty. That's kind of important to know........

Again, thanks guys...

FYI, if you don't use the heatsink that comes with the CPU, the warranty becomes void.
Use it.

If it couldn't cool the CPU adequately (at stock speeds) AMD wouldn't put it in the box. It'll be fine unless you plan on overclocking or are noise sensitive.

Thanks again. I just wans't positive and I wanted to make sure to get it right without frying my CPU the first day I use it. I guess I was comparing it to some of the PC cases on the market that come with a PSU, and you just know that PSU is worthless.

Only if you tell AMD. 🙂

I could have said that aswell but most on here will flame you for mentioning something like that 😀.

Once (if?) you start overclocking you might consider either the Si-120 or the Scythe Ninja. They are pretty much the best two heatsinks, although the XP-120 is very similar to the Si-120, just a bit bigger and harder to mount, with pretty similar cooling.
