what would be a good heatsink for amd xp cpu I am runing a 2200+ on retail right now. The quiter the beter. Trying to make a somewhat quite pc here and one big noise source right now is the retail heatsink :)

I also do have some room around cpu for larger heatsinks using ecs KS75A.

well then the best choice would be getting the slk900 and get the quietest 92mm fan you can find. it will still push a good amount of air, and cool well.

I'm using the slk900a on a gigabyte board with a 120mm fan that I salvaged out of an old dell server. It's quiet and very, very cool.

For lower cost alternatives, check out the gc69 from svc and the speeze falconrock from newegg. They're kissin' cousins, the falconrock having a copper insert and an arguably quieter fan. Neither one is the ultimate, but they both work extremely well at a much lower noise level than the stock unit. Hard to argue, at the price...

k thanks for all the sugestions. I hopefully will get one soon probably looking more towards the cheaper end because the more money i save the more i can put into other parts like a desparetly needed new video card ;) I have an 32meg ATI Rage Fury Pro with TV out/in right now. Cant play hardly any games with this..tryed grand theft auto 3 on lowest gfx setings once and it was all choppy lol.
