if not, anyone have an "educated" guess. educated guess as in history will repeat itself. what amd have done in the past launch, chances are they will do similar.

also. what is the typical price drop of the predecessor (7970) when this does launch? or when does the price of 7970 began to slope downward in anticipation of the launch?

Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the beginning of Q2 2013, possibly April, but I wouldn't bet money on that. The rumors haven't really picked up yet.

The common speculation is that HD 8970 will have 2560 SPs and a 384-bit bus. Nothing concrete yet.

AMD will go bankrupt before the release of HD 8970. Best to save 700$ for a GTX 780.

If the above specs are anywhere near truth, the 8970 is purported to be. . GLORIOUS.

Bigger and faster on the same process and using less power? I find that difficult to believe but i suppose its good to have goals.
