AMD GPU Notebook?

I am having a hard time finding a notebook with a high end AMD mobile GPU. The notebook also needs to high end in CPU, perferably intel quad core i7. If anyone owns such a notebook or knows where to buy one can you please inform me.

check out sager/clevo 15 or 17 inch or the alienware m17x or m18x. For a good price/performance on the high end I would recommend a 3610qm with a 7970m gpu.

i need a engineering geared computer. So amd 8900 or nvidia quardo. i have looked at the dell precisions and they seem to fit what im looking for fairly well.

Running Dells here - M6600 (quadro 5010) , M4500 (FX 1800) and a pair of M4400's (FX 1700's, I think) . Well built and mostly trouble free. Good support too. I have only run quadro's, but friend of mine has a 8900m in his M6600 and is very happy with it.

is there a huge difference between your graphic cards? and what processer are you running on your systems and your friends?

My M6600 has the 2960xm with the quadro 5010m , my M4500 has the i7-840m with the quadro FX1800.

Night and day difference - I don't think I would ever skip the XM processor option again - it stays at higher frequencies longer. The 5010m has a 4gb frame buffer which is a big help when you're rendering on your GPU.

The M4400's are one gen older and relegated to rendering engines these days.

My friends M6600 System has the 2760QM processor and the 8900m firepro card. He does mostly 2d cad work and is beyond happy with his system.

Can you switch out an amd graphics card with a nvidia? say i bought one with the amd 8900m and later wanted to put in the nvidia 5010m, would that be possable?

ok thanks, you have been very helpful. Dell has a $200 of special on thier outlet precisions. I can get a m6600 i7-2920xm, window 7 pro, amd 8900m, and the rest of the standard features for $1420. Would you buy that set up?

Seems like a decent deal, what display? drives? and Memory?

If it's the 1080p - ips display with a decent hard drive and at-least 8 GB of RAM then, yes, I probably would buy it.

I paid $3500 for:

2960xm
nvidia 5010
1080p FHD/iPS display
16 gb RAM
256 gb SSD & 320 GB (7200 RPM)

im not sure on the memory, it wasnt great but i plan to replace it anyways. the drive was 320gb(7200rpm). im not sure on the display, but display isnt a deal breaker for me.
