WE TOLD YOU about FX-57 and we are now ready to give you some more details especially about its overclockability.
It's clocked at 2800MHz - no surprise there but it turns out that it's not that hard to break the barrier of magical 3000MHz. This CPU will overclock even more than that cooled with normal air cooling.

You can imagine how high you might set this one at Asetek VapoChill -40 cooling units. It's definitely be record breaker.

It comes in two weeks so I guess that our NDA colleagues will give you all the numbers you want and someone will be brave enough to overclock it to 3000 MHz+. µ

No problem, we'r up before the yanks due to the time difference so I figure I'll let them know whats what. Nice to see there is headroom with SD's core, makes you think if AMD have some how capped Venices as most ppl are only hitting 2.8 Ghz if thier luckey, but this core hits 3 Ghz easy, makes you think.

AMD do have single core Opterons targeted for 3Ghz for Q1 along with the quad core Opterons. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of FAB30/36 (not in the clean room mind you ;))

its quite exciting what AMD are releasing soon, with regards to quad cores thats going to be amazing :) .. i think that i might have to sway towards the FX57 having that run 3.4Ghz and over on a decent water setup, it would be absolutly insane .. i mean just imagine the super PI scores sub 20 min for 32M .. :D:D .. and the rest ..:D

lol.. Considering that they are moving Dothan ( or the next core in line ) to the desktop, it very well may be possible..

Who woulda thought?!?!

Well, that's a <10% OC....considering the kind of headroom we've had on AMD's recent cores (Winchester, Venice), I don't see why this is all that unusual...

I'm not sure if that will happen, because wouldn't Intel want to keep the P4 around just long enough to squeeze 4GHz out of it so they have the recognition of doing it first? However, if AMD does hit 4GHz first, I wonder who will start marketing based on gigahertz then... (that is, if they do any marketing at all) ;)

I doubt they'd even switch to primarily GHz marketing then either. Perhaps, just for the 4Ghz bragging rights, but the performance index on a 4Ghz AMD would be an even more "Impressive" number I should think.
