AMD equivalent to Celeron D 340

Like the title says, what would be the approximate AMD equivalent to the Intel Celeron D 340. Athlon XP 2800+ would be my guess.

or maybe the AMD Sempron 64 3100+ socket 754, the difference is 256k L2 cache (same as the said celeron), as apposed to 128k L2 cache for the 3000+ sempron ..

or in the old days at that present time, then i would say yes probably an old 2800+ barton core, except this edition had 512kb L2 cache, and faster FSB, 166 over 133 for the celeron. (even though this Celeron is based on the new LGA775 platform).

just say "NO" to Celeron D unless u need a machine ~300 bucks from Dell (admittenly a good deal)....as in comparing it to any socket 754/939, its pretty much toast....

Actually those aren't Celeron D's. They are just ordinary Celerons. Which means only 2100 memory. Which means it wouldn't even touch a Sempron.

don't get a cele-d. I had one and it was pretty bad.. I had my 335(2.8ghz) overclocked at 3.4ghz and it was about the same speed as my sempron at about 2.1ghz. Heat output between the two was like night and day.
with the same cooling(my old xp90) it did +60C (3.4ghz).
my sempron however rarely even broke 55C (2.4ghz)

worst of all i paid MORE for a slower celeron-D... luckly my friend needed a spare rig and i sold it 🙂

It really didn't. They were just saying how any 754/939 processor can basically beat a Celeron D 340.

OP was asking what processor would equal a 340 Celeron D. I replied a 3000+ Sempron.

The "K7 FSB" is really meaningless.

I dont know what you mean. RichUK was saying that the Barton's 166 FSB was faster than the Celeron's 133, which is correct if you're talking about the operating frequency but incorrect if you're talking about bandwidth, which is the most important of the two.

One step further the OP asked AMD equivalent....

so Jediyoda pay attention and dont try to make this into a war....No one did anything wrong...someone said 3100+ ...i found a reveiw that said probably not that good....that is it...
