AMD Duron or Sempron

I'm building a very strict budget computer for a client. I'm wanting to know which of these two processors is better.

AMD Duron Applebred 1.8GHz for $43 w/o Fan or Heatsink, add decent fan/heatsink for $13
AMD Sempron Thunderbird-B 2200+ at 1.5GHz for $67 w/ Fan and Heatsink

Both processors are running on Socket A. I don't want this computer to be very fast, because I know I won't get much speed from either of these two processors, but I also would like to know which of these is really better. That being said, I wouldn't appreciate anyone suggesting any other processors to me, as these two are my solid choices, since they are cheaper.

Thank you

i would stick with the sempron

might wanna look into those frys deals. here in socal i can get a 2500+ sempron with a mobo for around $50-70.

Go with the duron, its is 300MHz faster.

I wonder if the cache is 256 on both? Anyway, the 300MHz will beat extra 128 cache and otherwise they are pretty basically much like on the inside.

The applebred duron only has 64kb of L2. I agree for business and general use, the extra 300mhz should make up the difference though. Surely a HS/F can be found for less than $13? If I knew they were that expensive I wouldnt have just given away a bunch of OEM S462 HS/F!

dude....stick with the sempron. not only is the older duron limited in L2, but cmon now...300mhz for a guy who's going to be churning out excel docs and checkin email? atleast be kind enough to give him a somewhat modern processor. anything over 1.0 - 1.3ghz would almost be unnoticeable to him anyway.

Her, actually 😛

And she may do more than that, I'm not sure. For the most part, she'll, at a peak point, play a low end game or something, maybe watch a DVD. So Sempron's definetly better? Alright, I'll go with that. Thanks all!
