OK, for a change I won't start in with the moral and ethical reasons for not attempting to RMA your CPU. I do think that they will examine it well enough to determine it was moddified and hence deny warranty repair. You may have to lie during the RMA proceedure to get them to issue one for you which may have other ramifications asscoiated with doing so, fraud perhaps? Perhaps no consequences beyond denial of warranty service due to the violation and the postage to ship it there. Still, it may be a dice roll so consider if it's worth the time, effort, loss of personal integrity, and even potential legal ramifications over a CPU with a market value of 20$ or less

And Overclocking the CPU had NOTHING to do with the death ??? No wonder overclocking has a bad name these days. Old time OCers knew the risks and were prepared to take them. But nobody wants to take responsibility anymore. When you overclock, you invalidate the warranty PERIOD. Having got that off my chest, why not send it back, everybody else does. Worst you can get is some nasty e-mail from AMD telling you what an ass you are.:D

If he wants to rma it let him, what if he has 2 computers, but needs 2 cpus, and only has 20 - 30 bucks, he can rma one and buy another duron. Just answer his question. As for the question, I dont know if amd will rma it for you, however it is worth a shot, give it a try.

That's why rma's are such a pain in the a$$ - cause dips who have roasted their equipment attempt to return it blaming the manufacturer. :disgust:

You physically modified your chip. That voids your warranty. Deal with it.

I'm not knocking you, djmix. Just those who suggest that you do something ethically repugnant.
