Amd Duron 600@900 unstable

I just bought a asus a7pro and I got my computer to post at 900 but it freezes all the time, and it also will not post some times and say that my ram is now set to deafult 100 mhz settings

my ram is kingston value ram 128mb pc133

could my ram be bad?

if so what type of ram is good to buy for overclocking?

The ram is most definitely not your problem right now. The kingston value ram is a fairly good piece of ram. I'm assuming that you unlocked your duron and that you changed the mult. to get your clock speed. The problem, I'm guessing, is that your voltage is not high enough. Check it, and if you have a decent cooler raise it to 1.75 or so.

BTW, you should also try GRADUALLY going up, not going directly to 900. If you have already done that, then 900 may be a limit for your chip.

That's getting towards the "crash" end of temperatures. You should try to get a better hs/f or lower your cpu clock speed and/or voltage.

I've been running a 600@933 (7x133) with a temp of around 40c, using the FOP32-1 with Artic Silver. Voltage is at 1.8. You need to get that temp down in the mid-30s at the 600 default setting before attempting to overclock, I think. Your issue might be be a combination of the temp, and once that is fixed, you might consider switching to the 133MHz bus (your RAM supports it), then boosting the multiplier up that way.
