AMD Dual Core Optimizer on Opteron?

Hi

Sorry if this is a stupid question i just wanted to make sure. Can the AMD Dual Core Optimizer be installed on a system w/ a Opteron? I just ask cause its under the X2 page and not the opteron page.. but i'd think they would be identical.

Thank you!

Well, I installed it on my Opteron 165 rig. Dont know if it did any good, because I installed it straight away, but at the same time, it doesnt seem to have done any damage.

In short, go for it.

it helps with an opteron. when i had my opteron 165, i installed the optimizer and gained about 150 points in 3dmark06. i know it's a synthetic benchmark, but hey, that's a pretty decent jump nonetheless.

I installed it on my Opteron 170 system and it fixed the timing glitches that I'd been having in Unreal and UT (old school, not 2004). Previously I'd had to set the affinity to one core for those games.

UT is awesome, especially some of the mods.

UT and Unreal are the only 5+ year old games that I still play relatively frequently...In fact there's still a few singleplayer mods for UT that I've yet to play and will at some point.
