Our supplier told us that AMD is dropping prices today, so if you are planning to get an AMD, hold off until the prices come down.
This is in Oz, dont know about elsewhere.

Well look, the 1.2Ghz C TBird was AU$330 yesterday, but our supplier said wait until tomorrow because they will be cheaper.

I agree DaejangNim, how much cheaper CAN the Durons get?

Duron is liek a celeron , right? Lacks the cache of the Athlon (in the celerons case, lacks the cache of the p3) ?

Gizbug, yes, The duron is the AMD equivalent of Intels Cellerys. Although in some sitiations the Duron will beat a Pentium3/4. (My Duron900@1044 just beats a 1.5Ghz P4)

heffe734; thats what I thought! Bring 'em on!

No, AMD's Duron to the T-Bird is nothing like a Celeron to a PIII.
A Celeron is a castrated chip from Intel, and runs nothing like a PIII.
A Duron is using a smaller cache than the T-Bird, but otherwise, they are the same.
At same clocked speeds, a Duron will benchmark around 90% of what the T-Bird benches at.
At same clocked speeds, a Celeron will benchmark about 70% of what a PIII benches at.

Tom's site has a good comparison:

I'm guessing the processor died so they cut off the pins and set it on top of the socket to mess with our heads.

Karno: That is kind of weird. But I would assume that AMD announced the server Palomino at the same time as the 760MP, so that probably just the server part. My computer has been down for a day and a half so I haven't been following press releases enough to know:(

Well prices on the 1Ghz Thunderbird at www.newegg.com dropped about $8. Though its kinda odd that the 266mhz part is selling for less than the 200mhz part...hmm...

Well, the 6th has been and gone...sorry about the false alarm people.

That pic with the AMD and an intel chipset was a joke :D
