AMD chips dropped prices at NewEgg again, are they clearing stock for an upcoming new chip :)?

Curious that the MSRP is the same as the price per 1000 units in AMD site, of course there s rebates but i wonder how much is precisely the Neweggs and other retailers margins on CPUs, here in France word is that they are lower than for MBs or HDDs and are no more than 10-15%, seems a little low as the margin on electronic items is generaly 25%.

Speaking as a former employee for a retail electronics store that used to have to track the department numbers 18% was the goal for the computer department. 16% was very bad. Now tvs and such had higher margin.

What is the difference between the 7850K and the 7800k??

Difference is that the 7800 has no K and that frequencies and TDPs are also different, 95W for the 7850K, 65/45W for the 7800 and frequencies of 3.7-3.9 and 3.5-3.8 respectively.

Measurement made by Hardware.fr point that the real TDPs are 67W for the 7850K, 63W for the 7700K and the 7600 is 45/55W depending if it s set at 45 or 65W in the bios, there s no numbers for the 7800, it should be 4-5W above the 7600.

Oh man.. what a bummer!! I live in the US and I bet they dont ship here huh?? Also if that 7800 is 45w that would be super sweet specially if it has 8 GPU cores like the 7850K does.I am trying my best to hold off for Carrizo though but due to the price drops at newegg I just had to grab me a couple more 5350's for round the house streaming. I guess super low power TDP SOC APU's have a special place in my heart.

NCIXUSA caters to US clients

Wow, those Microcenter bundles, cheaper than cheap. The FX8320 @109 or 140 with a 970 mobo. An A6 6400K bundle @45. And I shouldn't buy any of it.

Awww Sweet!! I am going to have to have a look see and see what they want for maybe a 7850K. If its cheap enough Im in cause I am looking to run a full stream APU with out a dedicated graphic card.APU with IGPU only with no drives except a SSD to cut down the electric bill. Right now I am running a x5650 and a R9 270x and my power bill has spiked quite substantially :( do you guys think this would make a difference or am I being delusional??

This set up use about 150W idling, if it s on 24/7 it will use 108KWh/month,
a minimalist FM2+ idling would use about 20% of this amount at 30W, cost would be reduced by 5, wich is significant if electricity is expensive, here it would cost 12€ and 2.4€/month respectively, to put in perspective with heating bills that are, what, 100-200€/month for an average house.

Yeah its on most of the time but its usually idle but when its under load its not showing no 150w its more like 350-450-500w specially when using handbrake or when I do some gaming. And yes electric is damn expensive here for some reason.Seems like I am always yelling at the wife and kids to turn off lights and electronics when they aren't using them. But like I said I am chalking up the electric bill to this computer. If a 7850K really only takes up 20% of what Im using now then I will go ahead and get one and sell off this beast.

if you are burning that many watts at idle, most likely you have things set to not be conservative in the BIOS. If you tweak your setup for energy efficiency rather than raw speed you could probably cut that idle usage in half. However, that would require you most likely to use adaptive voltages and other C States.

Back on topic, sweet deals for grandma PCs!!

Yeah I know that and I never said I was eating that much energy at idle only when using it for what need to be done which is mostly video encoding.

Quite frankly, if you already have a 1366 Hex-core, you might be disappointed in the performance of a "quad-core" (dual-module) APU for video encoding, unless you can find a program that can utilize HSA features.
