As stated in title. I play games like Crysis 2, many Source games and Starcraft 2. Is there any benefit from updating the driver?

I don't think you would see any great benefits except in some games that are released after march 2012. And looking at your list of games I don't think there are many extra FPS for you.

The short answer is "no." If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The long answer is that whatever performance benefit you get out of it, you probably won't notice anyway (less than 5% improvement).

I can't say offhand which games have been improved since 12.3 but most of the improvements are likely going to be in the 7xxx cards and/or in new games.

Still, as an example, I installed the latest Catalyst Application Profiles (CAP4) and Guild Wars 2 scaling went from ~10% to ~100% on my HD4870 crossfire.

I'd say update your drivers, you'll probably get something out of it.

I saw a boost in the 78xx/79xx series after 12.6, but not sure about the 68xx series.

Me, I always run the newest version unless I have a specific reason not too... (12.5 beta or whatever it was for example caused HDMI audio issues for me so skipped it)

its a shame that AMD drivers are so hit and miss.

If you skip crossfire you have to look hard to find the misses for quite a bit of time now. I wish people would just drop the AMD and bad drivers attitude.
I know there is a problem from time to time, but there really isn't anything unusually about AMDs drivers.

They can be like Nvidia and just not release anything. Latest 670/680 WHQL driver is based from May 301.42 and it can't run Sleeping Dogs right either.
