Thanks OP. Are these 12.7 betas any different from the ones that came out a few days ago?

I can't tell from the numbering/code... but they are on the AMD site... so my guess is that they're slightly different.

Will try official 12.7 Beta's when I get home, and see if that helps with my scaling issue.

What's that Application you guys use to clean ATI installs, atimann? Or something?

EDIT:

Feature highlights of AMD Catalyst 12.7 Beta
Diablo 3: Anti-Aliasing support:
  • Users can now enable Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing and Super Sample Anti-Aliasing for Diablo 3 through the AMD Catalyst Control Center.
Bout freaking time, been doing it through a third party for almost a month now.

I'm reading sketchy reports about atiman now... so maybe hold off on it. Kinda wish I'd found these sooner... but frustration may have led me to mistakes.

If you've got any driver/reg cleaning tools you already trust just use those.

Will do, however, what have you read on this program? Perhaps it's something the community should know - ie if it installs key loggers or worms.

What I'm reading is that it could in its sweeping damage or remove core system files.

Just some posts that came up in a google search about the program from a few other tech boards.

So nothing malware-esque, but it just might have some sloppy elements to what it removes and inadvertantly cause system issues.

I'm actually thinking I'll do a system restore to before my driver installs this week and just use the AMD stuff from there and avoid the more exotic "solutions".

If that is true, that seems counter-productive to the suggestion of using it. It would seem it could easily create more issues when swapping drivers then prevent.

Now that makes me wonder how many "driver issues" people may have had due to using ATIman?

Thanks for the heads up.

I always prefer to stay to the authentic stuff. After a few romps with the Omega Drivers back in the day, I think I've had enough with custom installers and tweaked drivers haha.

My reason for trying new betas and such was because basically no drivers have works for Crossfire&Eyefinity since the release drivers (11.x) and I believed there was room for better performance in these cards.

But I'm hopeful that the 12.6s will at least be stable.

I might just try a Win-repair before taking other steps though. Such a hassle.

Good luck.

Still on 12.2whqls, had driver crashes with 12.4 and 12.3 I had an issue with toggling between HDMI<->DVI output profiles.
I don't do betas, ever. They're not worth it. I'll have to give 12.6whql a try though, if not I've been as happy with 12.2 as I was 10.6 (yes a long time ago, but I've installed every single monthly WHQL).

Well AMD isn't going the monthly whql releases anymore. So now everything is marked as a Beta just like Nvidia.

Have you contacted them about this?

Updated to 12.6WHQL from 12.2WHQL (I tried 12.3 and 12.4, not a straight jump as I'd migrated back 12.2).. so far so good, these seem very solid.

Hopefully this is a sign of less frequent WHQL updates.

I'd rather let the guys who want to screw around with betas have their betas, and allow AMD to get fixes out quicker that way for new games or cards with those. The rest of us who just want the most solid driver possible can stick with WHQLs.

There was a time, when the migration from ATI->AMD was going on when monthly WHQLs were necessary to work the bugs out from ATI's (inferior to AMD's) way of doing things but everything has been pretty good since AMD tookover and this appears to be working out.

12.6 WHQL are working fine for me thus far. No issues as of yet.

Anyone using 12.6 have issues with Sleep/Waking Up?

I'm seeing it talked about here and there...

I'm still trying to diagnose my problems at this point. I've just finished a clean install of Win7 and the 12.6 drivers and now I can't get Eyefinity to function properly.

This release appears to address only the 7000 series of cards. What if any benefit would it have on my machines with a 6970 or 5850s in CF?
