Hi all,

Have recently come across an irritating issue that i have no idea how to solve. The problem is that in a large amount of effects in Vegas the colours are not displaying as they should. Example below:

Some video effects also do not function properly.

I haven't used Sony Vegas for a while, about a month or so, and in that time i installed a the latest AMD driver (12.10). Now i can't say for sure that this is when the problem originated but i'm assuming it is, due to one specific reason that i'll explain a little later on.

The problem first occurred when using Sony Vegas 11, and considering there was a new Vegas out (version 12) i decided to uninstall 11 and see if things may change with Vegas 12. For a very short while they did, well the effects i had a chance to test (it crashed in literally a few minutes after i placed a video on the timeline). The crash report was the following:

Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
Application Name: vegas120.exe
Application Version: 12.0.0.394
Application Timestamp: 5086cf03
Hang Signature: ad30
Hang Type: 256

Since then, it has not crashed again. So, reinstalling Vegas is not the issue here. I then remembered that i installed a new driver a while back. So i uninstalled and reinstalled the AMD 12.10 driver. Problem persisted. I then reinstalled an earlier version, 12.8 (the version i use to use and had no problems with). Still had the same problems.

So i uninstalled version 12.8 and before reinstalling the latest version again i decided to test Vegas out with no drivers installed, and everything worked fine.

So as i said above, i'm not entirely sure when the problem first started but i assume something went wrong when i first installed the new driver and ever since then it has not quite worked correctly. Does anyone know why this is happening and how i can go about solving the issue?

All help very much appreciated.

How did you sort it?

I'm having issues with the latest AMD driver, latest Vegas 11 version and NewBlueFX Titler Pro. Possibly related, but likely not.

Oh wait, you only sorted the link?! Oh! Still, some commiseration is in order. I feel your pain. Did you post on the Vegas forum?

Yeah, sorry, i sorted the link but not the problem. I'll edit that post as i can see how people may misinterpret it.

I posted the problem in the creativecow forums but they didn't really offer much help other than to uninstall and reinstall Vegas. It's most definitely not an installation problem with Vegas and i'm pretty sure it's a driver problem. Well, when i tested Vegas with no driver installed it pretty much confirmed it is the driver.

I'm at a loss, i recently used Driverfusion to remove all remnants of ati/amd files after uninstalling amd through add/remove programs, but still the problem persists.

What problems do you have with Vegas?

From what i can tell, the bug is mainly only really in media generators. Colours display differently to what they should do. For example, yellows come out as greens, reds as blues etc etc. Hugely frustrating.

My issue was with Titler Pro crashing Vegas. All the evidence pointed to video drivers. But after swapping out Nvidea/AMD cards the problem remained. However, today, NewBlue patched some of the GPU acceleration code and now it works!

Haven't been able to duplicate your color issue with generated media. So, lucky you, it could well be a video driver issue. But, Vegas 12 is having issues for others too, so...

Post over at the Vegas forum: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowTopics.asp?ForumID=4
There's some battle-worn veterans who might be able to help.

That or maybe this is nature's way of saying you need to make some arty black and white films.
