The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based semiconductor maker told the Wall Street Journal that its desktop chip Clawhammer (aka Hammer ) won't be shipped to computer makers until at late in the first quarter - perhaps the early portion of the second quarter - of 2003.

AMD also said delivery of its Barton, which was expected by Christmas, would be delayed by as much as six months. The company would not pinpoint the reason for the holdup.

Ouch! There go their Q4 2002 profits! Looks like it will be an all-Intel Xmas.
