AMD/DDR mobo help

hey all....I have set up my woman's system, but this is the first system I have used DDR Ram with...anyhow, this is one of the AMD Extreme performance giveaway packages, with an Athlon XP 1800+ and an MSI mobo, along with 512mb of DDR PC2100 ram....when I boot up, the ram says it is at a 200mhz speed....shouldn't that be 266? If so, how do I change that?

Thanks for the help....

Go into the BIOS and set the FSB to 133. You may have to change a jumper on teh Mobo to 133. Actually (I think the mobo you have is the gigabyte GA-7DX) there are some jumpers (switches) on the mobo that you have to set accordingly so that the FSB is 133. Check your mobo manual for those settings.

it reads the proc correctly as an Athlon XP 1800+, but still says the DDR speed is 200mhz....hmm....it is not a gigabyte board, this was the MSI one from the early give-aways....

Irreguardless of the motherboard brand, do what the previous poster suggested, dig out the manual for it, and check the bios to make sure it is forced to 133Mhz FSB.
