Hello Everyone,
I am a casual gamer who wants to play new games in decent settings. I am new to tech terms and have the most basic knowledge in gpu units. I have an old integrated 512mb amd 3000 graphics and I am planing to add a new amd hd6670 1gb ddr3. My query is will 6670 or any other amd gpu, for that matter, support my on-board 3000 integrated through CrossfireX? I don't want my 3000 graphics to go waste.
Please Help!

Processor/CPU: AMD PhenomII X2 560BE @ 3.3Ghz
Current Graphics Card: 512MB AMD 3000 integrated
Ram/HDD: 4GB Transcend 1333Mhz/ 1TB WD HDD
Display Resolution: 1366x786

The old hybrid crossfire that used to appear on m/b boxes and descriptions has been dropped completely since Vista. It never ran well or at all. With Win7, it was recommend as not supported. Try for a gddr5 version of a discrete card, to pick up some performance.

The integrated graphics will go to waste, unless you want to use it to drive an extra monitor? Just consider it would be like the onboard sound, if you had a discrete sound card would you mind if you had to disable the onboard sound? It's no biggie. I suppose you could save a few cents a month by conserving power if you remove your discrete video card and use the onboard, but then you get far worse performance so it's not worth the power savings.

Well, if my integrated 512mb is going to be a waste, what would you suggerst? NVidia GT 630 Synergy Edition 1gb ddr3 or AMD HD 6570 1 GB DDR3? I am on a very tight budget and ddr5 is not an option. Also, will AMD card deliver better performance on my Phenom II as compared to Nvidia card?

I know GT 240's gddr5 version used to go on sale , down to 50 dollars, that was a while ago. If you stay vigilant and hunt for bargains, you can probably find a 6670 gddr5 / 5750/6750 for around 60 dollars.
Here is a Refurb for 55.00 a 5670 gddr5

try at least a GTS 450 or faster (5770, 7750)

your IGP can only work with crossfire using a HD2400 or 3400...
both really slow, with 40sps just like your HD3000 (which is the same as the HD3200 but without UVD), the 6570 you want have 480sps, so it would never work in CF, and even if you go with a 6670 DDR3, it's a huge upgrade.

I'd suggest getting an inexpensive used card, perhaps an older generation gamer card.

Maybe you can find a 5770 very cheap, or Nvidia older card? I hope you live in an area that has a large used market, perhaps try craigslist where you can get great deals. If not, maybe try ebay - when you purchase from ebay, you can expect to be very safe because the odds are stacked in your favor when it comes to disputes over defective cards, so don't even worry about that.

Thanx for the input everyone. Appreciate it.
PS: I am getting a used GTX 550ti at a cheap rate. I hope it fairs well as compared to an AMD equivalent.
