AMD CrossFireX Cannot Handle...?

Hi,

Im currently on HD5850 1tb and running CrossFireX.

However, no matter what I do, turning vSync on/off, and restricting / not limiting FPS, FIFA 13 is always stuttering.

I read somewhere that EA games aren't that 'friendly' with dual gfx but is this true?

I'm on 1680x1050 (22" LCD) and I dont see any problems on maximum settings for COD / BF3 / Borderlands 2 etcs...

Hope you guys can advice... 🙂

You might try downloading the latest Catalyst Application Pack (12.9 CAP 1).

Alternatively if you have Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) installed, you could create a profile for the FIFA13 launcher .exe file which disables crossfire to see if that resolves your issue.

Hi Elcs,

Yes, speaking of 12.9 CAP 1, I didnt install because this happens after installing 12.9 CAP 1. And I dont know why. Btw... Is there even a need to install CAP in the first place?

CCC? Erm I have Catalyst Software Suite installed though, aren't they the same? (Correct me if im wrong). And how do I create a profile for FIFA13 launcher .exe then?

Also, are you guys able to help me on this: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2275712 (And this is why I've yet to install 12.9 CAP 1)

I always had stuttering with AMD crossfire. I had it with the 4870X2, the 5970 and a pair of 7970's. Its baked into the implementation and there is no solution. People will tell you to get the latest drivers, they will tell you to limit FPS and a whole host of other things. Its the drivers/hardware, has always been this way.

If you can't live with it you need to switch to a single card or NVidia, I did and I am much happier.

I didnt have such a problem on the couple of PC games, only until FIFA13... And the funny thing is, during Rainy Weather settings (in FIFA13), the graphic is extremely smooth...

Yes, please, go ahead and laugh, I find it hilarious too... 🙂
