AMD cpus

Avoid the brisbane

Cache doesn't make or break AMD cpus as much as it does intel cpus. The brisbanes run cooler and can overclock higher. IMO the lower cache alone isn't a good enough reason to avoid brisbanes all together.

It does enough difference, especially cause the brisbane wont overclock that much higher.

There was a thread here sometime ago with some benches I believe, I'll try to look for it.

well yea that rings true i live in the tropics so heat here is an issue so cooler = better for me. also will the dual-cores of next year work on am2/am2+ slots or will they be excluseively for am3 ?

AM2+ and AM3 are supposed to be backwards compatible.

AM2+ cpu should work in a AM3 motherboard, and a AM3 cpu should work in a AM2+ motherboard.

At least that is what I read.

I had to make the same decision myself when deciding between a 6000+ Brisbane and a 6000+ Windsor. I asked around on the internet and in the real world. Basically I came to the conclusion that it really dose not matter which one you get. They will effectively perform the same, overclocks on either will be pretty poor and they will both bench pretty much the same. Get which ever is cheaper.

i like brisbane cuz they run cooler.
