Apologies if this is a stupid or obvious question:

I'm thinking of building a Thunderbird-based system. Do they support 133mhz RAM (266 FSB) right "out of the box" (like with any KT133a-based mobo), or do I have mess around with pencil lead, adaptors, etc.

Can anyone recommend a decent place to get a tbird/mobo combo?

Yes they do, KT133 will run 100FSB 133Memory KT133A will do 133FSB 133Memory...

I would recommend a KT133A board, I prefer the A7V133 and that is only about $3-5 more then a A7V based on KT133! Small price to pay for 133FSB support.

i think hes talking about the processor...

there are 133/266MHz FSB t-birds available, but they're few and far between. i think compaq and gateway are taking them all.

Whatever you get, a great place to buy motherboards and processors is
TC Computers

I have bought at least 3 systems worth of parts from them. Good prices, great service!
