Yes it is!
It's $34.00 cheaper than NewEgg (shipped) and it comes from a reputable site.

Before you buy anything that's listed as the lowest price possible, and you don't know the seller, then go to Reseller Ratings to review other shoppers experiences with that vendor.

edit: go for the athlon64 3500

but to use the 64 3xxx whatever, it needs specific memory?
boss bought a 64 3200 with gigabyte nforce 3 250 from newegg = $203 or something
but he got 256 kingston pc 2700 (didn't wan to spend more than $250)
bios says xp 2800? that's right
price is what i'm saying. price and reliability

The processor isn't picky with ddr ram that I know of, but some motherboards are, particularly nforce boards. However his motherboard might need a bios upgrade, or need to manually set the fsb to 200 if its booting less than that.

This is an excellent price for and excellent cpu!

It would be inappropriate for me to say that I can get this processor in a retail package for under $280, but I will say it seems a bit pricey.

Right now, AMD has promotional procing on a lot of processors (this one is about $15). Some vendors may be passing the savings along, others may be pocketing it.

I strongly suggest that the 3 year warranty is definitely worth the money when you are spending over $200 on a processor.

I got this exact processor for my dad two weeks ago for $270 from Newegg. I wonder what caused the massive increase in price?

For unclebud, he should be using PC3200 RAM in a A64 system. That should correct his problem. I have no idea why it would be reporting that its an AXP since you can't put an AXP into a mobo built for an A64. Have him try PC3200 RAM and see if it changes the processor to 3200+.

edit: I'm a genius with a keyboard.

I also saw this cheaper not long ago. Given current prices this is a good deal.
