AMD CPU families which could run RAWSHOOTER sftwre which requires SSE enabled AMD CPUs ?

My present 1.2 Mhz Athlon Thunderbird CPU is apparently not an SSE technology enabled Athlon. And for this reason the new raw camera file software program RAWESSENTIALS will not run on my system.
The System Requirements = PC with Intel Pentium III 800 MHz processor or equivalent CPU with SSE technology enabled. It is known that AMD CPUs with SSE technology enabled will run this software.

I don?t wish to change motherboards, at this moment. I have an IWILL KK266 mb. It is more sensible for me to add SSE technology enabled Athlon, if possible, into the Socket A.

Which AMD CPU families would both work with my slower fsb (133-150mhz) and also have SSE technology enabled ?
Are the families Athlon XP and later ? Or any Sempron ?
And if I keep my present motherboard, a Socket-A. will the faster speed CPU?s just run slower but still function at the limitations of my IWILL KK266 ? In other words the faster Socket A CPUs will run slower with my present MB and later, with a faster fsb MB, they will simply run faster being able to utilize the newer, faster fsb ? (thanks in advance)

Thanks, Kensai and Matthias99,
The main, overall, objective is to get an AMD Socket-A CPU, which has the full SSE technology enabled. And then to run it functionally on my KK266 MB.

At a certain point AMD apparently stopped trying to go with a separate Multi Media instruction set, 3-D now, or whatever, and added the Intel SSE instruction set into the AMD CPUs and a bit to inform software that the SSE instruction set was fully available.

I am trying to find when and where in the develpment sequence this fully took place and what that CPU is named. The CPUs after that point will of course have this full SSE technology enabled.

I am not as saavy about this as some of the heavy hitters on this site and so I appeal for response. Thanks.

I linked to two of them; I want to say it was the Thoroughbred core Athlons that added SSE, but I'm not 100% sure. Certainly the most readily available these days are the Duron and AthlonXP CPUs (and the new SocketA Semprons, which are just rebadged AthlonXPs); T-Bred and T-Bird CPUs have not been manufactured in years. Most Socket-A motherboards can go all the way up to an AthlonXP with just a BIOS flash; I would suggest consulting the manufacturer's website for information on that.

Thanks, Mathias, I am on the research trail on the XP line, as you suggest. I see that Newegg does sell AMD CPUs wich are SSE enabled. The Motherboard compatibility aspect is another element. Other responses are quite welcome.

Any Athllox produced in the last three yeras or so ;)
SEe if you can toss a AthlonXP in there...all of them save for a few are 133mhz FSB anyways.

And ANY athlonXP supports SSE. Palomino had SSE (was that the first? I don't know...)....so don't worry. If it is an AXP you should be fine.

Thanks, magomago,
I am not sure which one - XP, Sempron, etc. will work best in terms of value to price to functionality in this KK266 MB - ratio, but as long as it is after the XP point in time. OK.

Not necessarily, your motherboard's BIOS needs to support the processor. Check your motherboard's processor compatibility list for supported processors.
