My parents want a computer. I would like to steer them towards an Athlon system. I see that Dell and Gateway seem to be selling only Pentiums. I could build them one but then I would be the 1-800 number for support and I don't think our relationship needs that stress (smile.)

Any good recommendations for an Athlon system from a reliable company that will provide the type of support that you can expect from the "big names."
 
Try nutrend.com and abspc.com they are affiliated with newegg (or so I have heard).

I have purchased from nutrend and they are great, they replaced my mobo, cpu and dvd 4 days before my warranty ran out.
