I decided to finally go the AMD64 route after using Socket A for a long time. I'm going to get a Socket 754 right now instead of 939 and I happen to have a friend that has an AMD64 3200+ s754 for sale at $140. He also has a Clawhammer 3200+ he's offering but for $25 more.

I know that the Clawhammer has 1MB cache while the s754 only has 512KB, so what's the better buy? Does the 1MB cache make that much difference or will the speed bump to 2.2Ghz on the s754 3200+ make up for that?

The Clawhammer and NC 3200+ procs are both 754.... but the NC is faster (and will overclock better).

Yeah, go for the non-clawhammer, especially if it's cheaper. The clawhammer does a have a cool name though :)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I will go with the s754 3200+ at 2.2Ghz and either a Gigabyte GA-K8NS PRO or a MSI K8N Neo Platinum

Hmmm, I have a 3400+ Clawhammer and it is a CG stepping. Are you aure that 3200+ Claws are limited to C0?

I personally went for a Claw because the chip is used in a server with MySQL which can take advantage of more cache.

For desktop use, go with the NC.
