AMD Certified PS, worth it?

Is it really worth it to look for a AMD Certified power supply or do you think that I should just find one thats reputable enough? Right know I have a Abit KT7-A Motherboard and I will be running quite a few PCI cards along with a Nvidia GeForce 2 Pro 64MB. The PS that came with my mother board seems to be frying everything that I put with it so I am going to go somewhere else. Any suggestions? Ideas? Oppinions? Thanks

Try the Antec 300w ps. Very good ps. I would consider getting one that is AMD approved (Antec is). Your other options could be Enermax, Sparkle, etc..

cool, thanks, could you give me a price range of what I would be looking at. I could go check PriceWatch I guess, But I might as well ask...

My 400W Antec was $70 from Directron - probably not the greatest price around, but also not the worst. The 300W should be more like $50. It was a little difficult to find mine separate from the PSU/case packages, so I don't know how many options you'll have. They stock the 350W at my local Best Buy for $60, so that might be a possibility if you don't want to deal with shipping.

There's always PSU's out there that will work, and some for a very long time, you just have a better chance of getting a consistent stream of electricity from certain PSU's.

i have heard sparkles are good as well.........might consider that also........i use pcpower and cooling one of the best made powersupplies out there

Yes I think it`s worth it since power stability is part of the main key to to a stable system and a good AMD PSU will serve you for years and maybe future upgrades if you pick the right one.

It can also save headaches in tracking down power related problems, the so called "generic PSUs " are hit or miss on AMD systems and I like to be 100% sure that my PSU is approved for my hardware. Antec,Sparkle,Enermax are probably the most popular top 3 brands that are very good quality PSUs.
