Nice thread crap. It says what it is in the title.

Meh, whatever you say dude. I guess I'll get my pom poms out and cheer for a driver release for an unreleased card, is that the only response this thread should have? While a AAA game still has a major issue that AMD hasn't fixed, or appear to care about?

And...
AMD is releasing a two-phase driver release with Catalyst 15.15 and 15.20. The 15.15
drivers are available immediately, and the 15.20 drivers are coming a few weeks later.
The Catalyst 15.15 drivers bring new features like:
 FPS Targeting: The ability to save power by setting a maximum FPS target
 Virtual Super Resolution: The ability to downscale a game from a high
resolution to a lower resolution, giving a user higher-quality textures in game
(also known as supersampling)
 Performance optimizations: Adding game performance optimizations to AMD
R9 Fury X and other graphics cards
Although Catalyst 15.15 drivers will not be available for Windows 10, Catalyst 15.20 will
be. The Catalyst 15.20 drivers will bring features like:
 Catalyst Uninstaller: Allows users to uninstall their AMD catalyst drivers cleanly,
so new drivers can be installed without incident
 OpenCL 2.0 optional features: Multiple performance and feature additions
 FreeSync + CrossFire: The ability to run FreeSync dynamic screen refresh
technology with multiple GPUs in CrossFire mode.
Catalyst 15.20 divers will also have Windows 10 specific features like:
 HEVC (High Efficiency Video Codec): Enables quality streaming and 4K
experiences
 DirectX 12: Support for the low-level efficient graphics API for Windows 10
 Windows 10 WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Lab): AMD’s latest driver
release (15.20) will be WHQL and WHQL for Windows 10 as well

Nice to see the driver FPS limiter finally implemented. All benefits of vsync without screwing up mouse input.

Gonna give it a try. Nice feature list for the W10 driver once it's ready, too.

Why would HEVC support be a Windows 10 specific feature? If the UVD block supports it (Carrizo is known to do so, and I'm guessing Fiji probably does as well), then it should work on Windows 7 as well. This is concerning to me... the Fury Nano was looking like a good idea, but if it doesn't support HEVC on Windows 7 then my options are once again limited to the GTX 960.

Anyone have any thoughts on downscaling the game from 4k to a 1080p display? I think my computer can handle the 4k, but I've only got a 1080p display. Just wondeirng if this is a good way to improve graphics quality on my current display. Is this a good or bad idea? Thanks.

BTW, that FPS limiter will be awesome. Will just type in 60 and I'm done. VSync without input lag!!

They did that with their H.264 support on XP for their 780G IGP. Couldn't get it to work at all on XP, even with the various options of MPC-HC. Switched OS to Win7 64-bit, and Viola!, perfectly-smooth hardware playback, even with subtitles enabled.

I use it all the time on my 1080p plasma TV.

Thank you. I might go give that a shot. I assume because it renders at 4k, it means performance would be as if it was running natively at 4k?

Though I just tried to install the driver and it won't work on my 290X. Anyone know when this driver can be available for something other than an R390? Would love to try the Target FPS & Virtual Super Resolution. Currently on 14.5. Thanks.

Yes, it will run as if it is running 4K. Very demanding.

You should be able to use VSR right now, with the latest driver for your 290X. I think the latest is 15.5?

Edit - Sorry, I was mistaken. Currently, only the 285 supports 4K VSR. Your 290X can go up to 3200x1800.

More info here (scroll down about halfway)

Thanks Firebird.

I've got a 2x 290X in Crossfire, I'll give it a try and see how it does.

And thank you for saying I can run it. I checked AMDs site again and I guess I didn't scroll down far enough the first time to find the beta drivers section. Beta is on 15.5. It is also weird because the CCC utility checked both published and beta drivers and said I had the latest ones available. Anyway, off I go to download 15.5!

Thanks for the additional info, I'll give 3200x1800 a try. Should still be an improvement over the regular 1920x1080. Weird that their (previously) top card doesn't support 4k.

Is FPS Targeting only available on the R300s so far? Didn't see it in the release notes link.

Yes, that is a new feature that isn't available in older drivers. If I'm not mistaken, it is similar to setting an FPS limiter, which you can do in RadeonPRO.

Okay, good to know, thanks. I have RadeonPro, might be an older version though. I'll look at RadeonPro again. Though maybe with 3200x1800 I might not need a FPS limiter. At 1080p my setup was just too fast and I would get tearing without vsync or input lag with vsync. 3200x1800 might be enough.

Any word if FPS targeting will eventually trickle down to the R290s? Since the R390 is also a Hawaii I would hope so, but maybe they're trying to push their new cards.

Thanks again.

Does it fix issues with Crossfire in Witcher 3? No? Don't care.

Exactly what I wanted to know. I finished the game ( started again though ) haven't managed to kill a single foe while riding horse because of the stupid stuttering issues.

15.15 and 15.20? so, back to meaningless numbers for driver releases? i like the year.month format. lets me know just how old my drivers are when i remember to update them.

nobody with R9 29X has tried seeing if these drivers work with their card?

Won't detect my 290, only the HDMI driver shows up for installation. Weird. They did mean it was only for the 300 series

Going back to the previous driver.

Was just going to say the same thing. I LIKE the year/month format as it makes it very easy to see how older your driver is. Now its year/release. Which is still better than nVidia's worthless versioning which counts back to the dawn of time.
