Highlights of AMD Catalyst 14.11.1 Windows Beta Driver

Performance Improvements

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare performance optimizations
Assassin’s Creed Unity performance optimizations
Known Issues

[408930]: Occasional stuttering in Assassin’s Creed Unity in CrossFire mode under specific game settings
[409235]: Small chance of intermittent screen tearing or corruption in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on high settings 4K resolution in AMD CrossFire mode
[408706]: Quad CrossFire AMD Radeon R9 295X2 may sometimes black screen when loading a game in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
[409199]: AMD Radeon R9 280X/280 may experience a crash when playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and a video at the same time. If you experience this issue a work around is turning off the video while playing the game.
[409177]: CrossFire users may experience intermittent flickering in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare menus. As a work around if this issue is seen restarting the game may cause the issue to disappear.
Important Notes

AMD is currently working with Activision to resolve the following issues in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare:

Users in AMD CrossFire mode sometimes experience texture corruption
Negative scaling sometimes being observed at specific resolutions with AMD CrossFire

Highlights of AMD Catalyst 14.9.2 Windows Beta Drive

Dual Graphics optimizations for KritiKa and SheDiaoZero
Project Cars profile update
Resolved Issues

Alien: Isolation: AMD CrossFire profile updated to detect new .exe of recent application patch
[404762]: Total War: Rome 2 sometimes displaying texture corruption when on the campaign map in CrossFire configurations
[400500]: Total War: Rome 2 occasionally stutters when task switching between applications
[406501]: Watch Dogs occasionally has negative performance in CrossFire configurations on medium game settings
[402840]: Max Payne 3 cinematic cut scenes intermittently show flickering
[403798]: FIFA 2015 CrossFire scaling sometimes underperforming expectations
[401984]: Metro Redux CrossFire scaling sometimes underperforming expectations
[397343]: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor occasionally shows flashing when running CrossFire configurations
[406978]: White patches occasionally observed in CCC when dragging display icons
[406997]: Upgrading from previous 14.4 Catalyst drivers with dual AMD Radeon R9 295 in CrossFire may cause a black screen or system hang
Known Issues

[407993]: F1 2014 exhibits minimal scaling in some CrossFire configurations
[407864]: Hitman Absolution intermittently crashes when starting a new game on AMD Radeon R9 285
[407834]: FIFA 2015 occasionally displays flickering in AsymmetricCrossFire configurations
[407622]: Alien Isolation will sometimes exhibit screen tearing with V-Sync enabled
[407431]: Minecraft sometimes produces corruption when changing video settings in windowed mode. As a work around please select Use VBOs to On in the Video Settings in game.
[407338]: XDMA Quad CrossFire configurations in portrait Eyefinity modes sometimes display tearing or stuttering
[407756]: Launching Battlefield 4 in offline mode can occasionally lead to a crash
[408033]: Launching Civilization: Beyond Earth with a 144 Hz display can sometimes cause the app to hang. As a work around lower the refresh rate of the monitor.
[408007]: Civilization: Beyond Earth can sometimes hang on a small limited set of Kaveri mobile APU products when paired with discrete graphics products in Windows 7
Important Notes

AMD is currently working with Firaxis to resolve an issue where the interactive and visual elements of the mouse cursor can become offset. If you encounter this issue, the following workaround is available:
Go to Windows Settings and adjust Text Scaling
Right-Click the Desktop
Select Screen Resolution
Make Test and Other Items Larger or Smaller
Set 100% Default
AMD is working with Firaxis to resolve an issue where graphics stuttering may be observed under high map zoom and high image quality settings.
Multi-monitor gaming in Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth
Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth does not support multi-monitor configurations. Launching the game in such configurations may cause the game to hang.

Multi-GPU in Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth presently supports a maximum of two graphics cards in Mantle. If you are using more than two graphics products with Mantle for this game, it is required that disable the extra linked adapters through Windows device manager.

I will test this on my kaveri rig and hopefully CODAW is atleast stable :|

another driver with GCN only support, did they drop officially support for the older DX11 GPUs or just for the betas?

Yeah, looks like they will be revamping their software and CCC. Crazy way though.

Just installed these drives and COD AW is MUCH smoother and better for me with my R9 20s in CF

First attempt. Default installation (next, Express, blah-blah, next)
But apparently 14.9 can not be uninstalled that easily.

^^ Notice the big green "success" mark> hilarious.

2nd attempt using latest DDU resolves the issue:

How do you install these? I went into Catalyst and updated but it still says Beta is uninstalled and I am running 14.9

Someone's feeling adventurous LOL

this is only like the third time ive had to update drivers since i got back into pc gaming in 2012 so i dont know all the "insider knowledge" of amd driver resinstalls

I've never tried to install via auto-update. o_O

Always stuck to best practice for new drivers, uninstall old one out, then reboot. Then install new one.

In the past, I had to use driver sweeper or other tools, especially when switching between NV/AMD but in the past few years I did not encounter any issues.

I go into control panel, hit the change for AMD catalyst controller and select the uninstall all AMD drivers. Uninstall ALL AMD drivers, reboot then install the new drivers. I always select custom so I can uncheck the Raptr.

i did custom and unchecked Raptr and it still installed it

oh well, i uninstalled it anyways. think im good on 14.11 beta now, thats what catalyst tells me. Gonna fire up Advanced Warfare run some benchmarks, wish my luck.

Praise the gods. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare desperately needs a new driver, like, a week ago; but hey, better late than never. Will go ahead and test it out now.

Went ahead and did a clean wipe of 14.9 WHQL with DDU and CCleaner, and installed 14.11.1 beta. The installation completed "successfully, but with warnings", as with every other AMD driver I've installed in the past few months.

Performance in CoD : AW is... a little better? I guess? Previously, I had to turn down literally all of the settings (other than resolution and FOV) to "Low", or "Off" in order to achieve any resemblence of a smooth framerate (and even then, it was still quite stuttery). Now I feel like I can turn things up a little bit, but I am nowhere near achieving a consistent 60fps, not even close. Haven't even bothered maxing it out. Also, the pre-caching options for shadows, shaders, etc still totally break the textures. Overall the game still feels, technically, pretty crappy.

I'm not impressed. This is not the critical performance optimization I was expecting. Perhaps they will release 14.11.2 beta in a few days.

Edit: I should clarify that this is multiplayer that's having serious performance issues. IIRC, singleplayer seems to be mostly solid.

The warning is very likely the steady video plugin, just untick it next time you custom install.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for next time. The install log always comes up clean so I usually don't worry about it.

Has anyone found anything worth upgrading with the exception of the couple games listed?

BF4 in particular is of interest. (Crossfire 4k also)
