AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta!! Feature Highlights

Actually seems weird that AMD would release a 14.1 driver in February or March. IIRC, they've delayed a little bit into the next month once or twice but I'd be surprised if they named the driver 14.1 and didn't release it until the end of Feb. or into Mar.

If they release a 14.1 driver, it will be in January. February would be 14.2 and March would be 14.3 since AMD drivers work like "Year.Month"

This looks good, but i'm generally happy with AMD drivers.

Advances in Frame Pacing for multi GPU most important.

HD7000 series
R9 200 series
R7 200 series

eh...ill probably two more generations before i upgrade my 5850 🙂

well see how big this turns out..physx was sort of a letdown...we havent had a significang updatd since dx9

dx10 etc has nice features but it seems like developers hold back due to performance

no Tiled Resources support for pre HD 7000 GPUs,

anyone knows if Nvidia supports tiled resources for Fermi (Tier1)?

Cool, I hope this comes soon. Should be in January as it is 14.1

That is a lot of new stuff in a single driver. Why did they save it all up for one massive big bang release?

Current cards are 11.1 only, 11.2 isn't enabled yet as not all the features have been implemented in the drivers.

Hmm, 'Q3, 1st production driver for win 8.1' ?

Now, what the heck does that mean ?
Are they saying that is when they will have a WHQL driver available ? If so... 😵

ok cool I was just hoping there was not additional hardware added to the new series to support it.

I think 11.2 features require no extra hardware on the GPU to work,so any 11.1 compliant GPU just needs a driver update to become 11.2 compliant.I know for a fact that all AMD GPUs from 7xxx series and up support the 11.1 feature set.I also think that there aren't any NVidia GPUs to date that have support for 11.1 on the hardware level, but I could be wrong on that one.
