Can someone go over the proper way to remove the old drivers.

I have downloaded driver cleaner.

Some google said to still do in safe mode! Anything else?

"AMD Radeon™ R9 290 Series - PowerTune update to reduce variance of fan speed / RPM"

Hmm. I wonder if this will help with the weird fan issues.

i just installed them on my 8.1 system with no trouble at all. this is the first driver i have installed from these new drivers, been using the default windows driver as i was waiting for these to get close to final. so far i like them

Guru3D has a pretty nifty uninstaller that works for both AMD and Nvidia. I've been using it with no issues

AMD does have their own uninstall utility available...

In any case, most of the time, you can just install the new drivers, and it will uninstall old ones.
In certain circumstances that might fail, and that is when you use AMD's utility (only for win 7/8) and then try installing drivers again.

They also have: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx

Thank you. I have been just runing the driver install file for a while now as i was told that it would not matter much anymore. But still saw some postings online about driver cleaner.

Once again, thanks.

I will just uninstall and re install like i have been doing. If i see any issues i will give DDU a go.

Still having issues of monitor turning itself off. When it tries to, I get a ghost image, with rainbow lines across the top or halfway down like a bad memory chip. About 1/4 of the screen, I can see a ghost of the desktop. The 13.9 drivers do not give me this issue.

I had to turn off, the screen turn off and run a blank screen saver. Otherwise they perform good.

The beta 9 drivers are not smooth using vsync even with FP off.
When I use the beta 8 or earlier drivers vsync is smooth with FP off.

Win 8.1 / 11.2 beta 9.2 / 7950's / 2600k @ 4.7ghz/ 16gb DDR3
BF4 runs great and smooth with FP off & vsync enabled here.
If I enable FP, it stuttesr like crazy with vsync enabled....so I leave it off.

Had a lot of choppiness with vsync enabled as well. I just leave it off and don't really notice much, if any, screen tearing.

How are the 9.2 in ghost? 9.1 still gave me shitty performance, and also gave me a crash in bf4. I see the release note mentions a fix for that in windows 8.

This driver seemed to make my card sound like a jet engine all of a sudden. Other than that, no issues to report so far.

Anyone else having installer issues with 13.11 beta 9.2? Downloaded it several times but it still gives me this error. 13.11 beta 8 also gives me this error.

Currently using 13.11 beta 6 ( beta 7 caused to much crashes in battlefield 4)
Properly uninstalled previous drivers (safe mode, they uninstall ect) but still installer error.

Windows 7 64bit
7970 x2 crossfire
I5 2500k @4.5ghz
2564x1440 monitor

Google is no help
Thanks

Doesnt it increase the Fan speed?, hence the 'jet engine'...

No, this driver seems to make the fan curve more aggressive. Before it would hit close to the target temperature, then the fan would start to spin up. Now it gets louder much faster. I'd have to say that my temps stay pretty well in check. 51% fan speed @ 75c max temps, no throttling. Its not too loud unless you set your target temp lower and uncap the fan to 70%+.

No issues, but i would try using a different browser to download it see if that helps.

I wish there was some more options with Overdrive, namely, minimum fan speed and manual fan control. My 290X idles its fan at 20%, and during deep idles, it'll stay under 50C. But even a slight amount of activity and the GPU temp hits 72C, with the fan RPM still at 20%. I feel like it could run much cooler with just an increase to 30%.

Install afterburner.
