Software Description

AMD Catalyst 12.x (8.980.0 June 4) Unofficial BETA driver

This is an unofficial 12.6 beta driver 8.98 branch, not a MAIN branch (and latest on wich they develop caps [latest would be 8.99]) like previous leaks.

So don't install caps despite the dll version they are very old and don't have latest profiles for example max payne 3 cfx and and diablo 3 cfx.
Install 12.6 cap1 instead.

So don't install the Caps included that come with this driver.

Windows 8/7 and Vista supported. Cards supported HD5000 and onwards.

The shocker?? I CAN FINALLY PLAY USING QUAD-FIRE!!!!

Holy ****!! Just got done testing out BF3 maxed out and everything turned on in Eyefinity 6120x1080 @120hz using Quad-Fire on a 64 multiplayer server with 0 issues!!!

Crazy right? Only 5+ months to get this done.. The last 12.6 offical beta i could'nt get tri-fire to work without the cards not clocking right. These no probs.

Used the latest AB to comfirm that i'm getting 80-90% usage out of all 4 cards and all runing the same 3D clocks.. :)

I'm in shock!!

Holy cow.. i can finally use my damn computer!

Running now, http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1672524 My QuadFire Build.
Intel 3960 @ 5Ghz
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
QuadFire 7970
X-Fi Sound Card
32GB G.Skill 2133Mhz DDR3 Quad Channel Ram 9,11,10 @ 1.65v.
3 SSDs Mushkin Enhanced Chronos 120/2x 240GB Raid 0.
3 Acer 23" 3D Ready LCDs
2x Ultra X4 1600 WATT P/S 's
MM Extension Ascension UFO Case W/ Top of the line Water cooling. Dream build!

Its now as ******* smooth as if i was playing a single monitor no ****! I'm not even currently overclocking the system at all and the cards are runing stock as i test.. Metro was always murder on my settings even when i ran the system at 5Ghz and the TriFire heavily overclocked.. Its a total dream come true and holy cow what awaits when i overclock this. :)

This guy was having a real hard time before.

Ha, I was just about to send my second 7970 back...looks like I got some testing to do this weekend!

I can now vouch that two 7970s in crossfire KICK ALL SORTS OF ASS in eyefinity!!!!

I am running three samsung s27a750s @ 5760x1080 120hz with a sniper 3 mobo, 3770k ocd to 4.5ghz and crossfire is running like butter with these new drivers! So far I have tested BF3, Mafia II, & Crysis and its running as smooth as a single card

Take a look at my GPU usage in crysis with these drivers:
crysisgpuusage2.jpg

Now compare that to my GPU usage with crisis using the 12.6 drivers & cap1
crysisgpuusage.png

HUUUUUGE DIFFERENCE HUH

And look at how saweet BF3 GPU usage now puuuurs with these drivers:

Eclypse you are a true multi-gpu Senator & Statesman. Thank you very, very much for this driver find. I was just about to send my second 7970 back until I saw your thread. :D

marked. Running the 12.6 betas on my 7970s, no issues so far, but I'll try these if I run into issues. Maybe there is hope for AMD drivers.

Time to step up to a 120hz monitor bro

Having used both, I would take a good 2560x1600 ips/pls panel over 120hz anyday....once you see it, the quality is so much much better than what you see on cheapo TN panels. TNs are terrible, 120hz is nice but 2560 resolution is better. You see much more detail in your games, and any productivity work that you do in windows will be a million times better.

The other thing is that 120hz limits you to a crappy 1080p resolution, and 1080p on a 27" is horrible. A less than 27" screen is even more horrible. Currently i'm eyeing the samsung s27B970, I used the s27a850 which was an unreal monitor (in a good way). Too bad samsung isn't making a 30" version of these.

I lost my surround sound with these drivers. My AVR is detected but no audio comes through if its a non-decoded source like DD5.1 or DTS. It is able to play audio in games and webpages fine but in stereo mode. Rolled back to 12.4 whql and issue is fixed.

Junk junk junk. All these new beta drivers are pure junk. Give me real drivers to fix the major issues with the cards such as the sleep issue.
