Why do they need monthly driver updates if there is nothing significantly wrong with them? Surely, taking their time to polish a release would be much better than meeting a self-imposed monthly update.
Normally I would agree with you, but for those of us with new 6900 series cards and only a patchwork 10.12a hotfix driver supporting them (with all the problems associated with 10.12, and no new CCC support) I would hope they're devoting a lot of resources to getting these cards running stably, and to their potential.

The performance gains can wait, but waiting a month is killer for those with stability problems. The old 'roll back to a previous driver' works in a lot of cases, but not when there is only one driver release that officially supports your hardware.

It's just you :p .

I seem to remember the 69xx series drivers not being ready either.
Thats what I meant. Now they are fighting the gtx560 with drivers again and are delayed.

Lately it seems that way.

The drivers are delayed , they just pushed back the release of the 1gb 69xx series, there are driver hot fixes galore. Just seems wierd.

There are delaying for the gtx560 release. Is it me or does AMD seem to be on the defensive and one step behind?.

Im sorry, but I don't understand your logic. You will have to explain this to me. Delaying a driver till your competitors card is released is just plain stupid. As for being one step behind? How so?

Its kinda hard to explain, its like a football game where the one team is being out coached.

The 69xx drivers weren't ready because apparently the driver team didn't have enough time with them before release. As for combating the GTX 560 with drivers, I don't think that's true because I doubt a GTX 560 will beat a HD 6970 and it might be on the heels of HD 6950 but anyways combating something you don't even know how it preforms seems....unlikely. The 1 GB is getting released in February, I don't think there was a hard launch date for that before, in fact before 3 days ago I didn't even know these cards existed.

So yea, I think it's just you :p .

EDIT: 3d Mark 11 went from P5331 to P5333 YAY! /sacrasm

I love how you always manage to make everything look bad for AMD...

But are people really surprised that they would delay drivers to "ruin" the 560 launch? Nvidia has done that countless times in the past, its what you do when you dont have any new cards to compete

He has been warned by ensquared several times for that, but still can't behave, may be a second ban may help.

They dont have the EQ AA modes that comes with the last 10.12 hotfixes.

Wrong, I have EQ on my Hotfix drivers for my HD 6900 series. :)

Tried the new drivers and... no difference detected between the two except for the look obviously.

When I uninstalled my HD 4800, I used driver sweeper, cleaned the registry, even cleaned it manually deleting any AMD entries and yet, most games and even AIDA64 recognized my card as an HD 4800 series. When I installed the drivers, there was no Anti Aliasing options available like MLAA or EQ which I had to force to enable hacking the registry entries. Formating Windows 7 and installing the drivers now worked fine and all games recognizes my card very well and have all the options for the Anti Aliasing modes except Wide and Narrow Tents that are now gone. :-(
