"Guide Wars 2". I love that game! It's from the same people that made Batalfield 3 and World of Wowcraft, if I recall correctly.:p

If AMD can keep their driver department going at this speed the negative stereotypes about their drivers will disappear.

And by disappear I mean be perpetuated by mindless fanboys who have never even used an AMD/ATi product.

If a monthly WHQL driver for 12 years straight wasn't enough then a couple extra profile updates a month is going to change their mind.

I've actually never used CAPs before :\
I'm running a single 7950 (925/1250) with cat 12.8

Would this CAP2 be any performance increase? I too enjoy GW2 :)

CAPs improve both single and multi-GPU gaming. The release note mentions that it improves GW2 performance, so it should help out.

Cool, I'll give them a try. Though judging from release notes it sounds like Crossfire only improvement?

Typically the release will specifically say, for example "Guild Wars 2 - improves Crossfire performance", if it was Crossfire specific. I install latest CAPs anyway, and I'm using just one card too.

I installed the CAP last night on a single 7950 and did not notice any huge changes. I also did not test WvWvW where some people in another thread stated GPU usage went from 20% to 40-50%.

That is first on my agenda to test tonight. Any get a chance to try out WvWvW with the update?

Just before I downloaded 12.8 driver suite I noticed the 12.8 profiles and didn't know they were set profiles for games. Maybe I'll give them a go.

They aren't just for crossfire either. There are single card improvements in the CAP's also.

Very cool I'm going to do a clean install of all the drivers anyway. Going to try out some I'm Alive, Alan wake, sniper elite v2.

From what I had read, crossfire scaling in GW2 was abysmal before 12.8CAP2 so I had it disabled. There were reports of scaling in the range of 10%.

I have 2x HD4870 512's and I now have 100% scaling in GW2. Ex. in a populated city, 28fps -> 56fps.

On that note, a pair of 512MB HD4870's apparently have enough vram to max out GW2 at 1920x1200 and not suffer performance degradation.

I'm noticing the game is running much smoother on my tri-crossfire 6950 setup after 12.8 CAP 2 installed.

CAPs mprove game performance, both single and multi-GPU. Just install it and go, no need to do anything else.

Not sure where I stand:

I installed the CAP profile last night, went about playing the game noticed a few things off the bat, note: single GPU 7970 @ 1125/1575:

1) GPU load was higher than usual, at least from what I remember. Area I was in before the profile I was 60-70% load (I use v-sync), last night I noticed I was at 80%+, but with v-sync on I was pegged at 60 FPS. So not sure why I'd want more GPU load.
2) Lion's Arch had less stutter but still not 60FPS, running around there it was 45FPS average, I was seeing more 50FPS, so I guess a minor boost here.
3) Complete opposite in Queensdale, where I'd never usually drop below 50 FPS, last night I was hitting <45 FPS more often.
4) Since I got this game I've updated from Cata 12.7 to 12.8, played hours without issues, last night for the first time something locked up. Not pointing fingers at the CAP profile, but switching from a Quest Instance back to the Regular World Map, my system locked up requiring a full shut down.

Temps on the GPU still pegged at ~50C even with the higher load.

Will see what happens tonight.

Since installing on a single 7950,
GW2 gpu usage is up about 20-30%. Now at any given time Im around 50-60%

I don't really notice much of a frame rate increase. Still kind of shocked that the game is only using 400-500mb of video memory according to gpu-z 0.o
Is it that processor heavy?

I think in cities it's basically 100% CPU limited. I couldn't say for PvP.

I settled on max everything except shadows -> high and FXAA = off on my HD4870 CF, and I'm staying pegged at an almost perfect 60fps everywhere except large cities, where I drop into the 40's. I'm running a 3570k @ 4.7ghz.

Another question regarding CAPs: If I install this, doesn't it ONLY improve performance in the games that are listed (Guild Wars 2, Darksiders II, Inversion, etc)? Nothing else? Or, is there some sort of general performance improvement that I see in other games too?

so after people posted higher GPU use % in GW2 i started watching mine, it seemed last night when i first logged on it was higher, running 80%+ when i first loged on, i didnt play much and came back a few hours later and GPU use was low, even in Cities like 30%, not sure if Anet changed something or what but it seems normalish

Isn't it the case that if your GPU usage isn't 100%, you're most likely CPU limited?

itll peg 4 cores up to 80% on a single core but ive never see it use more than that, most of time its running in the 50% range

Played last night for 3 hours no issues. Performance was better in Queensdale too, possibly my two negatives earlier were related to something else.
