The Socket 754 Athlon 64 3000+ CPUs have gone up in price over $10 over the past few weeks. What's the deal?

So I guess when AMD does those big price cuts, they're doing so poorly that they'll have to close up shop?

Price fluctuation, in this instance, is really not a good way to measure how well a company is doing.

amds always doing badly. profits bleh...always reading about losses or near losses and such. maybe its slightly better now, but i doubt its much. enthusiast market is nothin

What's the point of getting a 754 now anyway? :Q

budget computing? 754 is still a bit cheaper than 939, isnt it? i may have to get new parts for my comp, and for $125 i can get a semrpon64 2800+ and mobo.. thats just a 939 CPU

then again, not everyone is as cheap/poor as me😀

It's just supply/demand. Socket 754 is discontinued so the supply has stopped, but some demand is still there.

AMD recently cut prices on their current inventory.

I don't have a link to confirm it, but I believe they're planning to discontinue the A64 on 754, and leave 754 to Sempron
