honestly, amd's marketing team seems to have done slightly better over the past year or two, but we can't escape one thing: the president of nvidia is a marketing genius, the president of amd and, before them, ati, is NOT a marketing genius. Does nvidia go overboard sometimes? sure they do, but I've never seen them miss the table even when they have no eating utensils until this recent 5xxx launch. That's what has me so freaked out. that article that wreckage linked had a question for JHH about fermi's gaming performance. He dodged the question!!! Huang has literally taken nothing and in 20 years turned it into a $10 billion company. He's a good engineer without a doubt, but he's a GREAT marketer, so when they asked him that question and he didn't talk about opening a can of whoop ass my jaw dropped. It doesn't make sense that this could happen, but I wouldn't be surprised now if gtx 380 has trouble beating 5870 right now. I know how great fermi's tech specs look, but they have claimed from day 1 that gpgpu is their growth area, they're later than shit, and remember that 2900xt looked a LOT better on paper than 8800gtx.
Maybe wreckage can go to a quaddro forum and talk shit about the green team's 95% control of THAT market...
