They're coming out in the last week of H1, so it makes sense to put them under H2.

So a Llano core and cache is 17.7mm. A bulldozer module is 30.9mm.

So that is 75% larger to get the extra core in there.

That's impressive, I guess, although for some reason I expected it to be lower.

Has anyone figured out how much the total die size of bulldozer from those pictures and those numbers? Should be pretty straightforwards.

Edit: JFAMD. It looks like the actual names are listed at the approximate release dates, and the Zambezi box actually crosses over the H1/H2 line a little bit. I don't think it would be accurate to shade H1 as being "bulldozer" since it's H1 now and I can't buy a Bulldozer.

bulldozer has twice the L2 as well

The 4 module, 8 core variant of Bulldozer, code-named Orochi is at 300mm2. Though the module requires nearly 2x the amount of space as single K10 core at the same process technology, the actual addition of the module itself isn't that big. The rest of the size increases have to do with the significantly expanded resources everywhere. In other words, straight up dual core Bulldozer with no sharing would be much larger than a single module.

AMD has said that BD will be released in H1 2011 (1 January to 30 June). So until 30th of June we are within the H1 2011 time frame.

We cannot compare Llanos core to BDs module, they are completely different architectures. Llano is K-10 derivative when BD is a new design.

At ~300mm2 its huge for 32nm in contrast to 220mm2 for SB and 239mm2 for Intels 6-core Gulftown.

H1 lasts until the end of Q2. As long as you can buy a processor in Q2, like we said, H1 is correct. If it went on sale today would you say that H1 is correct? If so, then yesterday H1 would have been wrong. Your logic does not work.

I wonder what Komodo is? seems also 4module/8core.

Komodo is the next generation, 10 cores per die.

You should denote the source in the thread title (Goto-san) so people aren't misled into thinking these are actually AMD Bulldozer Slides, as well as linking the source directly in the OP (just out of courtesy to the owner of the copyrighted material you are hotlinking here).

Funny correlation - AMD's fortunes vs their core size.

Since the graph shows an increase in the BD core size (for a module), hopefully their financial position will follow.

Simple question: Is Zambezi going to be the primary chip for the "Performance Desktop" segment in 1H2011? If it isn't coming out until the end of Q2, I would doubt it. The only way it would be is if Thuban sales are so bad that they sell more Zambezis in one week than they sold Thubans in 6 months.
