AMD Bulldozer Deals

So, do we think deals like this will last, or once they clear out the old stuff, prices will stay decently high until Intel tocks or ticks again?

Planning on replacing my server with something a bit more powerful as the old Pentium 4 with 1.4GB of ram has trouble hosting pretty much any/ever modern game ... I am an AMD fan generally, but to be honest, I'm considering Intel simply because the power/performance ratio is good, and I'll probably keep the server for 5-10 years and it will be running 24/7.

it might last but if your looking to build a new server the new DX-8320 is the way to go great $$$/performance

I have a Gulftown i7 970 hexa-core + GTX 570. I want to encode video faster than my current rig. Will this 8-core AMD do a better job?

I have the 8120 and it does 4100ghz on stock volts and air cooled. Not bad 1ghz increase and all I had to do was up the multiplier, IMO of course 🙂

I dont care what people say, mine runs great. Plays all my games with a pair of 6970's which puts my computer at, above, and near HD7970 speeds, does editing, reformats, and a lot of other things with no crashes or hiccups. Been rock solid this whole time.

8320 is nice $$$/performance, but 6300 piqued my interest. My current 2.5ghz netburst p4 is fast enough for the most part (though since I run a small dedicated minecraft server, I'd like something i bit meatier ...) I plan to just run a FreeBSD host OS with a small number of linux VM's (game server, 2nd game server, and then network utilities like vent &Samba all running from host OS)

$17.50 per core. Too bad you cant buy just one core! It would go great with one of those $5 motherboards I saw

You can't really compare the cores on the AMD chips vs the Intel chips. The benchmarks are pretty bad compared even to Sandy
