hey

I am thinking about configuring a system on www.ibuypower.com or www.cyberpowerinc.com. I was looking at the AMD system and was wondering if they support the DDR2 RAM memory? Also, what is the major difference between the AMD ATHLON64 X2 3800 CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology and the AMD ATHLON64 X2 4800 CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology((939-pin) AMD ATHLON64 X2 4800 CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology?

Yep, ddr only, not ddr-2.

You want pc3200 ddr memory. The difference in the processors you mention is the speed grade, the 4800 running at higher clock rates in stock configuration... although you said 4800 twice, which is ambiguous. Be careful to get a socket 939 processor to match a socket 939 board, in any event... the make socket 940 models, too, generally for servers and they take a different board and socket... The x2 designation means that there are actually two processors on the same die...
