The new X570 motherboards are ready for the 3000 and 4000 series AMD CPUs. The B450 boards are going to require a BIOS update which may or may not work.

But it doesn't really matter because no one has AMD motherboards in stock due to the China virus.

It's a crappy time to start a new AMD build.

Is this generally accurate?

most definitely... lol..

Good luck finding a decient Ryzen board in stock.
Good luck finding a PSU even.

Now is definitely one of the worst times to require a new PC build.

So after doing some more research (which I admit I should have done before posting - I apologize), it appears that the 3000 series of AMD cpus will work just fine with 450 motherboards. It's the 4000 series that is going to need a bios update.

I think we have a better shot at getting a 450 board in the near term than a x570 board.

Thanks! And yet Newegg keeps blasting me with email advertisements. Such a tease.

Well, we also have the B550 motherboards releasing in less than a week on June 16. Will be curious to see how much product availability there will be.
I've got a new case, RAM, and Ryzen 5 3600 with nothing to tie them all together.

I didn't know about the 550 boards. Thanks for the heads up.

I expect all boards will need a BIOS update for the 4000 series.

Yeah, I mean I guess its possible the B550 boards *may* already have support for them since they're not even coming out for a week...but I really doubt it. x570 is going to need an update. Everything will most likely.

due to the China virus.
Quit your subtle racism. This isn't a MAGA support forum.

In addition, a vast portion of the motherboard and its components are manufactured in China. So maybe if you buy them, you might catch the "china virus".

I appreciate your perspective.

FYI China is a country, not a race.

Bullshit. Calling it the "China virus" is racially fueled.

I've already reported you to mods. We'll leave it up to them.

Stop with the references to "China Virus"
Doing so is making a political statement and politics is not allowed in the tech forums.
