Please post your AMD deaths and the voltage/frequency/duration you used to achieve this end. I hope to help others decide what limit their voltages should be.

None here. The only AMD 64 deaths I've heard of have been from people who botched voltage mods.

eh,

if you go over to xtremesystems there's a thread that's on nothing but A64 deaths...

most of them have been attributed to putting too many volts into the chip ... hence killing the mem controller on the chip...

it's not been due to a botched vmod

IIRC, that thread was all about VModing(or most posting there had VModded their setups), though I may have been reading a different thread.

why are people afraid of going over 1.8 or 1.85 volts then? I haven't found any good examples for barton XPs where people have killed it by overvoltage.. but just people being scared of going over 1.85 makes me not want to try it either. I remember the good old days when you can throw any voltage at the athlons (ie 2.0-2.15v) and all you had to worry about was temps.

Those old t-birds and Durons are hearty chips alright. I know someone who's been running a Duron 600@1ghz for years now on 2v!

some people are just timid. my 2500+ has been at 3000+ with 1.97v for well over a year now.

Shim what are some of the voltages being posted?

Seems to me that 1.9V seems to the the safe/ reasonable limit to K7 cores...( Athlon XP & Bartons at least)

I personally wouldn't go over 1.85.

i ran my 3200+ @ 1.85 daily... and all the way up to 1.95 for benching...

i didn't have issues at all and it didn't die either...

i ran my ram voltage at 3.55 as well and had no problems either...

and the thing with vmodding...

yeah you could say that vmodding indirectly killed the other peoples chips (vmodding helps you get the higher voltages) but it wasn't the actual vmod that did..

i have a vmodded shuttle an50r and my chip never died.

running 1.85 here aswell, on both a Barton and a Tbred B for over a year.

Ive never heard of a chip frying at 1.85, but ive heard of 1.9v-onwards frying so I wouldnt go over 1.85 since it seems that thats when the risk appears.
