AMD (ATI) promises open-source graphics drivers

This will really give them an advantage to sell ATI cards, do not forget there where 32 million users of Linux today.

If that happens I'll gladly buy an ATI card whenever I need a new card but at this point I'm not exactly stashing away money for that just yet.

It sounds like ATI is finally admitting that they can't write drivers, so they are hoping that somebody else will do it for them. 😉

yeah? Except ATI's Vista drivers are leaps and bounds above Nvidia's junk at this time.

Plus, ATI's drivers for XP work fine and have worked fine for me for the past 6 years or so.

This is very surprising.. I can't wait.. I will never purchase another NVidia card.. After running Ubuntu for the past 1 1/2 yrs. in one form another I am very happy with this..
