only thing is is that comparativly speaking their XP1600+ OEM price is $20 cheaper @ $55. Is the small difference in mhz worth $20? YMMV

Already ordered one on Monday, which is now waiting at my place. There's a thread in the CPU/OC forum on this 1700+ XP. N8 received his already, and unfortunately it looks to be a Rev. A. Don't get these expecting 2400+ results, but if its a late stepping Rev. A, it still may yield some nice results. I'll update when I get home and check the cpu.

Yea, I should know tonight how well it clocks. If it won't do 2050MHz @ 2.2v on my water, I'd say it wasn't worth it ;)

mrhans,

You're not taking a few things into account.

1) The default voltage is 1.5v i believe...so it uses less power.
2) The stock speed is 1467MHz as opposed to the 1600's stock speed of 1400MHz...so if ur not OC'n(yea, funny, i know) it is faster.
3) The chip is unlocked from the factory...for those afraid of / unsuccessfull at unlocking.

There are ups and downs to both the Palomino 1600+ & the Thoroughbred 1700+ :)

heh judging by your system spex you got a big bang for buck out of that xp1600. I just received one of the AGOIAs myself. If the 1700s theyre selling are super OCers than yes it'll be worth it.
edit:
off to go read the thread in question...

Yes. I understand :)
maybe when all the old one is "clean out", the Throughbred will replace all and it will be $65.

AMD need to cut cost and going 0.13 help a bit. Hope they do the rest (on time etc...) and we customers will benefit. :)

But are all of them factory unlocked or is it random. Just weird that the CPU would be unlocked since AMD only does that on their top of the line models. Maybe N8 just got lucky. Has anyone else received one unlocked.

Yes, he does understand the difference.

Nevermind. I was HUA. I don't think the TCWO one's are T-breds.

everyone make mistake...
Okay here is mine:
It is not laser cut meaning "unlock" the processor will be easy as Athlon before, no need to fill the gap. sorry.
so i guess it is the meaning of "factor unlock" we are talking about.

I think the problem it will face for oc is that smaller size core actually make it harder to cool it. (I guess we have to go back to copper HS with loud and fast fan) :)
