AMD Athlon XP : what is model 6, model 8, model 10?

model 6 : Palomino
model 8: Thoroughbred
model 10 : thorton ??

what are the differentces? Are they Socket A ? I want to upgrade to xp 2100 but asus said only Palomino will work with my motherboard? How do I know if I buy the correct CPU ??
