That's actually a pretty good price for the board + cpu. I checked on ebay and the 3000+ version is going for $120+ by itself. But like you said it has less performance so maybe its time for you to upgrade your mobo.
Platform. I'm not throwing out my Athlon XP/AGP system ...I want to maximize it. Its a hobby thing. I'm still building my PCIe system and just bought the RAM upgrade but its RMA for this sext of Corsair XMS ...I was initially impressed but the next day it was all bluescreens. Popped in the OCZ and back to normal.
Anyway. This is about the Socket A platform not A64. I love my NF2 set's.
Then why would you even worry about repacing the barton? Like I said you can get a motherboard and processor for the same price as the socket 1 processor.
