I'm looking for a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor chip. Please note there are two versions of this processor one is 333FSB and another being 400FSB. I want the one with the 400FSB. This is an old chip (Socket A) and you could definatley find this in an old system possibly trashed. If you have one available I would be available to purchase this. It is the last of the XPs before the newer Socket 939 processors.

Actually, there is only one version of the XP 3200+ and that is the 400mhz fsb version. The 3000+ has a 333mhz and 400mhz fsb version, but NOT the 3200+ XP.

The best place to find one is the f/s forum here or maybe ebay.

I know that is why I want to get it from someone. I don't know why they are soo expensive. You can get a new socket 939 for almost that much

You mean for less, Mwave has the 939 3000+ for $70 and the 939 3700+ for $98

You could pick up an Nforce3 board (Epox) and a CPU at Newegg, for less than it would cost for an XP 3200.

The reason its so expensive is because its the EOL upgrade for SocketA. It happens to all platforms.

That's not correct, a 500 Mhz K6-III was $20 brand new, at newegg, 18 months after AMD quit making them. A few years later, a 1.3 Ghz Duron was ~$20, also brand new, just a few months ago. The 1.8 Ghz Duron has been $38 for a minimum of 6 months at newegg (so it's price today has nothing to do with the recent AMD price drops).

Why not look out for the XP 2500+ and overclock the FSB to 400MHz. That's what I did when I had a SktA system. Same cpu but less money (in theory).
