Hm... you're right, they took down the 2100DUT3C code
but GameVE still has it for $89. Check resseler ratings first, though. (Or just go with $93 Newegg.)

But note that for full 45 dollars less, spending five minutes looking into how to increase that FSB just a liitle to get an easy 2400+ speed out of a 2100+ T-Bred B may be a good idea. Sorry Amber for crapping on your deal.

A mobo that is rated to take a 2400+ that at the same time can't take a 2100+ T-Bred B up 200MHz -- I dare you to name one, sir.
"Not everyone wants to overclock" part is correct so once again, this a good deal if you're in the market for a 2400+ regardless of the biggest-bang-for-the buck theory.

and even then its not guaranteed (you are lucky to get 150FSB and multiplier adjusts would require physical modifications to the board)! BTW, its a 266MHz overclock. That ECS board is the best selling Athlon motherboard also...

where can I learn to o/c the tbred with out reading pages of unneccesary info. I did the celry 300a back in the old days but didnt like the idea of modding the amd chip to prep it for o/c. Now with the tbred you just tweak in the bios and up she goes......right?
Also , I have the 8kha+ board now but have heard the 8rda+ board is the hot item now whats the big diff?

Don't they also have the new Barton 2500+ for just another $44 MORE ($178) - again even without overclocking that is a faster chip (more on-chip cache)

As pointed out by edplayer ECS K7S5A will take Thouroughbred 2400+ but will not easily overclock 2100+ so there's that.

So of course you can get more out of a 2400+ but does anyone else here think that 2100+ T-bred B will give you more bang for your buck for $45 less?

The ECS K7S5A ver. 3.X mb can handle up to XP 2600+ (10/29/02 BIOS) cpu. I have used both XP 1700+ & 2100+ (Thoroughbred B's) cpus in this board.

nice post as you can tell there are lots of diffent mentalities toward buying procs here. but everyone here frequents newegg's cpu dept. regularly, keep on finding those almost free too good to be true deals though. personally I'd go for the 2500+ it is faster, the extra cache helps with what I do (number crunching) and will oc faster than the 2400+ due to the changes made to the core. a 2100 will get you up to around 2600-2800 speeds possible, but the 2500+ will easily hit 2800 and many have hit 3200+ speeds with them on open air cooling.
