This isn't a T-bred, is it? I can't even remember how far those cores go down.

Nope....I'm guessing the prices on these went down because they are gonna release the higher speed TBreds soon? I hope so 😀

According to what I heard from two AMD reps last week, the prices dropped to make room for the 2600 and 2800, and the MP prices dropped this week in anticipation of Hammer... But they may have been blowing smoke at me, because I build systems and that's what I wanted to hear... ;D

I spoke with my AMD rep and this is what he told me. The 2400 and 2600 T-Breds will be released soon. The Hammer will not be out until Q4 and only in small quantities. Barton will not appear before next year.

On a little lower scale, the XP1600+ is going for $57.99 SHIPPED at Newegg! :Q

Run over to SVCompucycle and pick up some heatsink/fans rated for XP1800+ for $1.99 each + shipping :Q

Add a few other things and you've got a rack pretty quick! 😀

Just to add to Engineers post about cheap nodes...

refurb Abit KG7 HERE for $36.50

Toss in a ~$36 128MB DDR stick from Crucial (or $67 for 256MB) and you'll end up with a ~$150 node:Q That'll do sub ~4hr WUs :Q

Just add nic/hdd/vid card

WOW 😉

Why did you have to post this?

Now I have to resist the urge of upgrading my 1.3Ghz to a 2000+ XP... oooo... 1.67 would sure be nice!

Looks like it will go only up to MP1900+......maybe a BIOS fix (future) will allow more? 😕

Well that deserves a big fat....DOH! 1900's aren't much slower but even 2000's are barely worth the cost of upgrading until I know I can unload the old cpu's. Hmmm..

Just noticed they only list MP's on the site...I swore the XP's would work as well.

XP's work(I've tried, running Durons myself tho). AFAIK the 1900+ limit with Tiger MP has more to do with the power handling being insufficient than just a BIOS update.

In tomshardware they just showed a board with DDR400 but no specs (not matchure<sp> as usual)

But when u IMO actually look at it a 1700+ mhz processor verses a 2200 mhz really whats the end user going to see now. Along with the bean counters all-in-one board with 1.2 duron for $89.

Athlon ~1700 $75

All in one boards $67 to $86

Hard drives comming up a few dollars in price.
$75 to $107

The basic hardware components can be had for inexpensive and good quality.

Microsoft is the !@#$%^$&

The old rumors to repeat was low as 10,000 Opteron till after the first of the year. $200 for the board and $400 for the microprocessor, and then the bus makes the memory more efficient but the memory was initially in design slow speed stuff so who knows what speed will be the initial memory and when it will be boosted.

Do you ever know that you're going to do something that your wife is going to kick you in the ARSE for? Well, Newegg dropped the XP1600+ to $56.95 (USD) and I just know...I know....what's going to happen! :Q

Let's see....I have two hard drives, 1 CDRom, and a 5 rack wood shelf.........wonder what's next.....hehe! 😛

UPDATE:

Someone please help me...I can't stop...I've got 6 orders open waiting for the final Credit Card input....please help me stop.....I can't do this....I want the rack....but not the whipping that will result later....please help me....

Plllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :Q

/me goes to pace the floor.....
