AMD ATHLON XP 1800+ THOROUGHBRED A - WHAT TEMP IS NORMAL?

I was wondering what temperature is acceptable for this CPU? Mine is currently running at around 46 degrees celcius. I should mention I'm not overclocking.

Depends on the motherboard. Normal temp readings vary from board to board, all the way from below 40C (Asus A7N266-VM) to above 70C (ABIT nForce boards). I assume you mean on your 8RDA+ 🙂 and 46C is quite reasonable there, I get around 44C-45C on mine (with an Alpha PAL8045/Panaflo L1A combo).

So are you implying that the 8RDA+ motherboards give you pretty a pretty conservative reading? I mean.. is this board giving temps that would normally be lower in other motherboards? I know someone that gets 44C from an SLK800 + 45CFM fan on an 8RDA+ with a 2100+ tbred B at stock speed.

I have a 1800+ tbred b running at 1822 mhz at 32C now...::shrug::

I used to have a palomino 1800+ that would run around 40.

Mine gets 41 load. Yours seems normal.

EDIT: Oh yeah, its the A version.

Are you running stock heatsink?
