AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.5 GHz??

Just put together a machine for my Dad and noticed the speed of the AMD Athlon XP 1800+ was showing 1150 MHz? What gives? I thought the thing was a 1.5 GHz CPU!? Somebody please let me know what I'm missing because this is the first machine I've built with anything AMD. Thanks a bunch! Basics of the machine are below.

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
Biostar M7VIG Pro
Corsair 256MB PC2100

Check and make sure your FSB is set to 133MHz first. Then make sure your multiplier is set to auto or whatever the default is for your chip. I have a 1900+ and mine is 12 so yours should be 11.

Beyond that I'll have to dig around some. LMK how it goes.

Good call, ST. Didn't even bother to check, but the default FSB setting on this board is evidentally not 133MHz. 🙂 Thanks!

No prob... And looking at the reported freq. of the chip, with a FSB of 100MHz and a multiplier of 11.5 (your chips default multiplier (I was wrong with the 11 initially) it works out perfectly.

Good luck ech, your Dad ought to like that machine a lot.
